Biografia & Masterclass

Bye! My name is Ivan De Francesco, alias Ivan Drummer and I was born and raised in Naples. I come from a family of musicians and singers, so I’ve always had a passion for music, and in particular for drums. I started my self-taught studies at the age of 15 helping me with the advice of my father (ex drummer) and various drum books, but above all by listening to different musical genres and artists such as Pino Daniele, Sting, I Toto , Buddy Rich, Dave Weckl and others. My training begins first in a renowned Neapolitan school and continues with Mariano Barba, one of the most talented drummers in Italy. I started a very intense journey with him, mainly focused on learning the reading of solfeggio, a fundamental characteristic for those who want to undertake the study of this fantastic instrument at a professional level. From here what was a passion for me begins to develop towards higher goals: the dream of becoming a professional drummer. So I decided to enroll in the Dom Famularo Drum School Italy starting a path always focused on music theory and American movement techniques. In my studies I was supported by Maestro Massimo Russo, Antonio Parisi and Dom Famularo himself. After a couple of years of very rigorous study I achieved the diploma from level B1 to C2. At the same time I participated in several masterclasses, some of which were organized by the Drum School itself. This gave me the opportunity to expand my musical culture and technique through face-to-face study with some of the greatest personalities in the musical background such as Tullio De Piscopo, Gennaro Barba, Gavin Harrison, Dom Famularo, Thomas Lang, Eric Moore, Massimo Russo, Corrado Bertonazzi, Dennis Chambers and many others. I am currently part of several bands, in particular of the cartoon cover band “Kame Sound”, the first band in Italy produced by Giorgio Vanni and Max Longhi’s Lova Music. With them I had the opportunity to tour the whole Italian territory, participate in various contests and fairs, play in squares, theaters and clubs. I still consider myself a musician in training, continuing to study several hours a day every day and sharing my training through social networks, but not only. I like to think that the luck I’ve had in studying with so many global talents should be shared and expanded through comparison with many who study music like me. This is why, even in the Musicarmony Neapolitan music school where I teach, I plan an ad hoc path for each of my students that starts from the basics and then develops around the skills they demonstrate.

Ciao!
